My love of all things baked began early on. I can still smell the butter and sugar creaming in my Mom's kitchen at Christmas time. Baking cookies was the closest thing to magic I could imagine and fortunately for me, we did quite a bit of it. From scratch made sugar cookies to creamy chocolate fudge, the house wasn't often without some sort of sweet.
This fascination with combinations of butter, sugar, vanilla and flour grew with age. I realized fairly quickly that I was happiest near an oven, with flour on my face and a mixer at my side. In 2010, the term 'bun in the oven' took new meaning and my daughter, Grace Violet, was born.
Over the next two years, my time was spent at home with my little lady, tending to the countless demands of an infant. My need to bake grew and I began to cherish the creative release that came during nap time. Weather a quick batch of pancakes or a dozen cupcakes, most of by free moments were spent in front of the stove. This time was spent honing my pastry skills, testing recipes, bombing recipes, and enriching my baking knowledge.
